MANAGEMENT OF HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS
WITH THE MAIN TOPIC
Professional Management – the Key to Sustainability of Healthcare
(Hotel Splendid − Budva, 18 – 21 June 2025)
The Jubilee XXX ECPD International Summer School on Management of Healthcare Institutions with the main topic "Professional management – the Key to Sustainability of Healthcare", organized by the European Center for Peace and Development of the United Nations University for Peace, was held from 18 to 21 June in Budva - Hotel "Splendid".
The School was opened with introductory speeches by Academician Prof. Dr. Negoslav Ostojić, ECPD Executive Director, Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization for Europe, Denmark, Academician Prof. Dr. Milan Nedeljković, President of the Serbian Medical Society, Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Miodrag Todorović, Co-Director of the School, Director of the "Panafricare" Clinic - Seychelles, Prof. Dr. Tina Bregant, Co-Director of the School, Faculty of Health "Angela Boškin" Ljubljana, former State Secretary in the Ministry of Health of Slovenia and Dr. Melita Vujnović, Special Advisor to the ECPD Executive Director.
Co-directors of this year's School were also Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dirk Henke, professor emeritus and long-term Head of Department of Health Economics and Health Management at the University of Berlin, Prof. Dr. Luca Rossi, Director of Department for International Cooperation, National Institute for Public Health of Italy and Prof. Dr. Thomas Lux, Director of Competence Center eHealth, Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences, Germany. Lectures were given by prominent international experts.
The Program was carried out through the following thematic sessions:
Basic Concepts and Practical Aspects of Management in Health Care
Digitalization and Possibilities of AI Applications in Health System Management
Human Resources as a Key Element of the Sustainability and Quality of Healthcare
Contemporary Models of Healthcare Financing - Experiences from Countries in Transition
Within the Program, thematic round tables and panel discussions were organized, aimed at considering comparative experiences in solving certain current issues in the healthcare systems of the countries in the Region. The Workshop: How to deal with conflicts - personal questionnaire and interpretation was also was held and was followed with great interest and engagement of the participants.
Upon completion of the education, participants were awarded with internationally and nationally accredited Certificates of the European Center for Peace and Development of the United Nations University for Peace, with a note that the Program was accredited as an International Seminar of the 1st category with 14 points for lecturers and 7 points for participants (Accreditation number A-1-291/25) by the Health Council of Serbia.
We wish to extend our sincere gratitude to all the lecturers and participants, who recognized the significance and potential of this International School as an important meeting point and place for exchanging experience of managers and other decision-makers in health care systems from the region of Southeast Europe.
