The European Center for Peace and Development UN University for Peace organizes this School with the aim to direct the focus to all modalities and aspects of addiction, as well as to bring together experts from various fields - physicians, psychologists, social workers, special pedagogues, lawyers, criminologists and other professionals, who will enable a more extensive exchange of experience, as well as provide the latest knowledge, practical and scientific achievements in the areas of prevention, treatment and integral rehabilitation of addictive diseases.

The school is internationally and nationally accredited. The School is accredited by the Health Council of Serbia as an International seminar of the 1st category with 14 points for lecturers and 7 points for participants. The accreditation number of the School is je А-1-305/23.

President of the School Council is Prof. Dr. Slavica Đukić Dejanović, former Minister of Health of Serbia, Professor at the ECPD UN University for Peace, Director of the School is Prof. Dr. Zoran Zoričić, Head of the Reference Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia for Addictions, Director of the Clinic for Alcoholism and Other Addictions of KBC "Sestre Milosrdnice", Zagreb and President of the Croatian Society for Addiction, and Co-director is Prof. Dr. Petar Nastasić, Professor of the ECPD UN University for Peace.

The phenomenon of addiction, focused on substance (alcohol, drugs) or focused on behavior (games of chance, video games, internet and others), in addition to physical and psychological complications, results in a number of social complications, among which aggression stands out. The cause-effect dilemma, of whether addiction encourages aggression or personality traits encourage a person to experiment with addictive substances, is still present.

In working with addicts and their families, as well as the social environment, establishing abstinence is usually the first step, but insufficient for the overall development and maturation of the personality. Already in psychosocial interventions, we are faced with physical, verbal and latent aggression, both from addicts and from other family members, which can be latent or manifest. Ignorance of the theory and practice of interventions in the approach of the addict's personality, as well as the modality of aggressiveness, often leads to the abandonment of treatment by the addict through acting out procedures characteristic of a lack of insight and an immature personality.

Without the psychological, social and spiritual progress of the personality, there is no stable abstinence, and the overall development of the personality implies the mastery of the individual's own aggressiveness.

The goal of this year's School is, in accordance with the above, to raise awareness of the problem of aggression associated with addictions, to educate addiction experts to work with aggression through lectures, training workshops and examples of good practice. Addictions and aggression are accessed through a multidisciplinary approach, and experts of various profiles will be engaged in the school, including doctors, social pedagogues, sociologists, psychologists and other helping professions.
