ECPD INTERNATIONAL SPECIALIST SEMINAR
DIGITAL MEDICINE
(Belgrade, 7 – 8 May 2021)
ECPD UN University for Peace organizes this Seminar with the aim to focus on a new direction in modern medical practice, called Digital Medicine, Digital Health or e-Health. Digital medicine refers to the use of information technologies, services and processes to provide health services and improve the health and quality of life of the population. In a narrower sense, digital medicine implies clinical practice supported by the application of information technology, the Internet, mobile phones and digital communication channels in order to improve the provision of health services. In a broader sense, it includes the construction of digital hospitals, digitalization of hospital administration, construction of a regional medical and health network, remote diagnostic and treatment techniques that include modern information technology.
One of the advantages of digitalization in health care is certainly the reduction of the burden of the COVID-19 pandemic on health systems. Telemedicine and remote patient monitoring systems enable care for patients at home, which reduces the risk of spreading COVID-19, but also enables routine primary health care for patients with this infection, including electronic prescriptions (e-prescriptions). In addition, healthcare professionals can monitor symptoms in real time, provide appropriate medical advice as needed, and keep patients in a stable condition out of congested healthcare facilities also. These opportunities are of great importance, especially in times of crisis.
Personalized health service, continuous monitoring of the patient's health condition, constant doctor-patient communication fundamentally changes the current concepts and relations in health care, yet the development of this dynamic process has only just begun. In line with that, education in the field of digital medicine is an imperative not only for the generations to come, but also for all health care providers today.
Co-directors of the Seminar are Prof. Dr. Thomas Lux, Director of the „Competence Center eHealth“, University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein, Germany and Prof. Dr. Miodrag Todorović, Professor at the ECPD UN University for Peace, long-standing Director of the Seychelles Ministry of Health, founder and CEO of “Panafricare” Clinic.
The seminar is internationally and nationally accredited. By the Health Council of Serbia, the Seminar is accredited as an International course of the 1st category with 14 points for lecturers and 7 points for participants. The accreditation number of the Seminar is А-1-250/21.
