"European Union and the Balkans - Paths to Integration"

Within its major regional research and educational program “The Balkans in the 21st Century – The Ways Leading to Improvement of Peace, Development and Stability ”, ECPD launched its project “European Union and the Balkans – Paths to Integration”. 

The round table on this project was held in Belgrade, January 19 – 21, 2002. It was designed to contribute hastening of economic and social development through introduction and implementation of an educational program for new generation of future leaders in South – East Europe. For that purpose, Round Table attended by 25 eminent and internationally well known experts and university Professors, was organized and held.

The Round Table was organized in cooperation with and supported by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, London. The participants came: 18 from the Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania and FR of Yugoslavia); 12 from other European countries (UK, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Hungary) and 5 from international organizations.

The work of the Round Table was very successful and the participants were received by H.E. Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević.
